LEGOLAND News

LEGOLAND Windsor has submitted a hybrid planning application for 8 projects at the theme park and resort, including 4 new rides, a holiday village and a series of improvements to the entrance area and the car parks.

It is all part of a 10 year development plan at what is now the UK's most visited theme park, with over 2.1 million visitors a year, more than at any other Merlin Entertainments theme park in the UK (1.9 million at Alton Towers, 1.8 million at Thorpe Park and 1.6 million at Chessington).

NINJAGO World is now open at LEGOLAND Windsor and we were invited to the official launch weekend to experience it, including new interactive 4D attraction NINJAGO The Ride.

Here is our review of the latest addition to the theme park.

LEGOLAND Windsor has revealed a 10 year development plan for the theme park and resort.

If the latest plans are successful there will be a £95 million investment between now and 2027, including a new Haunted House attraction and new accommodation and car parking.

The park ran a public exhibition and consultation in October last year and recently the results and amended plans went on display. They aim to submit a full planning application in May.

LEGOLAND Windsor plans to open NINJAGO World with NINJAGO The Ride in 2017 and have submitted a planning application for the new land and attraction.

NINJAGO The Ride is manufactured by Triotech, a world leader in media based interactive attractions, and features cutting-edge technology that enables guests to control the outcome of their adventure through the power of their hand gestures. Through 3D imagery, high-tech sensors and the use of hand movements in a striking motion, up to four riders per car, representing the four main NINJAGO characters, can blast animated fireballs, lightning, shockwaves and ice as they travel through dojos to master their skills before heading into battle. Riders collect points for their training and battle efforts throughout the ride and scores are displayed when their quest is completed. 4D effects such as heat, smoke and wind are also incorporated throughout the adventure, giving guests the ultimate interactive experience.

A new 4D film experience starring the LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS is coming to the Imagination Theatre at LEGOLAND Windsor from Saturday 28th May 2016.

In an immersive 4D animated adventure created especially for LEGOLAND, it’s up to the LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS to defeat the evil Jestro, the Book of Monsters and all their Lava Monsters, with wind, water and smoke bringing the battle to life all around the cinema. Visitors can also go on a quest of their own to discover six shields hidden across the theme park to unlock exclusive ‘power ups’ for the LEGO NEXO KNIGHTS Merlok 2.0 mobile app.
