There are currently five such attractions in the UK; in London, Blackpool, Edinburgh, Warwick Castle and York. The Alton Towers Dungeon will be the sixth.
The Dungeons also operate elsewhere in the world; in Shanghai, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg and San Francisco, which all offer a unique combination of real history, horror and humour to bring gruesome historic events to life.
It is likely that The Alton Towers Dungeon will be located in the former building of Charlie and the Chocolate: The Ride that closed in 2015.
The London Dungeon features two rides, The Tyrant (boat ride) and Drop Dead (drop ride), and it is possible that versions of both of these will form part of The Alton Towers Dungeon. There are existing boat ride and drop ride systems at the park that could be re-used, previously seen in Charlie and the Chocolate: The Ride and Nemesis Sub-Terra.
