The Ultimate Guide to Halloween 2018

With the Halloween season upon us and a huge choice of spooktacular events to choose from, we've rounded up this year's highlights at the UK's theme parks and beyond into... The Ultimate Guide to Halloween 2018.

All of the most popular theme parks are as usual offering a comprehensive array of frightful fun, including Scarefest at Alton Towers, Fright Nights at Thorpe Park, Howl'o'ween at Chessington World of Adventures, Brick or Treat at LEGOLAND Windsor and More Treat Than Trick at Drayton Manor.

The UK’s original pleasure park Dreamland Margate transforms into a world of nightmares with Screamland, Vampire Pleasure Beach returns to Blackpool Pleasure Beach as part of a week of Halloween activities, Fear Island takes over Fantasy Island, and Twinlakes Park will become a Family Scream Park by day and an Xtreme Scream Park by night.

There is also a great lineup of family Halloween events at many other theme parks in the UK including Paultons Park, Lightwater Valley, Flamingo Land, Pleasurewood Hills and Oakwood.

Looking beyond the UK's theme parks, Tulleys Shocktober Fest is the biggest and best of the dedicated scare attractions around the UK and Warwick Castle becomes The Haunted Castle for Halloween.

Alton Towers Scarefest
Another year of hair-raising antics and spooktacular surprises as The Welcoming Altonville Mine Tours and Sub Species all return, alongside the new Project 42 scare maze and family frights with the Famous Freaky Five, plus the CBeebies Land Monsters’ Ball and House of Monsters family maze. Running on 6th-7th, 13th-14th and 19th October - 2nd November.

Thorpe Park Fright Nights
Get ready for the ultimate Halloween at Thorpe Park on the 5th-7th, 11th-14th and 28th-31st October with the return of The Walking Dead: Living Nightmare, Platform 15SAW: Alive and Containment plus The Walking Dead: Do or Die, Vulcan Peak, Dead Creek WoodsBlair Witch, Terror at Amity High, The Big Top: Showtime and the Screamplexx Cinema.

Chessington Howl'o'ween
You will be able to enjoy spooktacular entertainment as Halloween takes over Chessington World of Adventures for another year. Howl'o'ween takes places 13th - 31st October, and this year the spooky event includes Creepy Caves Unearthed, Curse of the Lost Tomb and Trick or Treat Wood, Room on the Broom Spooky Story Time and the new Haunted Howl’o’ween Live Show, as well as rides in the dark.

LEGOLAND's Brick or Treat
Brick or Treat is back at LEGOLAND Windsor this October, featuring a new Brick or Treat Trail and Spooky Hill Train for 2018. Frankie, the friendly monster, will be inviting guests to join him at his Monster Disco on the Miniland Lawn. Help to build an awesome Halloween themed LEGO Mosaic, make your best pumpkin out of LEGO or DUPLO bricks to take pride of place in the unique LEGO pumpkin patch for all to see, plus get creative with spooky colouring in activities.

More Treat Than Trick at Drayton Manor 
You are in for a treat at Drayton Manor again this year, home of Thomas Land. Thomas and his friends have been hard at work delivering pumpkins and decorations to Thomas Land to make this Halloween spookier than ever, along with extra activities.

Halloween at Blackpool Pleasure Beach
Vampire Pleasure Beach
 will once again be returning to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, as part of a spooky week of Halloween activities between 20th - 31st October 2018. There will be a full 11 days of fun including a new Halloween Drive-In Cinema in addition to the special late night event on 27th October 2018 plus the bizarre Circus of Horrors is nightly between 26th - 31st October 2018.

Screamland
The multi-award winning Screamland is back and more terrifying than ever! For the fourth year in a row, Dreamland Margate has been transformed into Screamland, with immersive scare experiences as well as all your favourite rides. Get set for a new fear factor in 2018 with a multitude of brand-new scare mazes including the Dreamland Sleep ExperimentMary Decomposed and The Upside Down, along with some firm favourites such as Dead and Breakfast.

Happy Halloween at Paultons Park
The friendliest, most frightful fun fest in the UK; with over 2000 pumpkins, ghostly scenes, spooky meet and greets, Freaky Fancy Dress competition, the thrilling Little Monsters Ball finale to finish each day and rides and attractions all included in the price! New for 2018, The Legend of Paultons Manor and The Big BOO Barn!

Pleasurewood Chills
There’s spooky fun for all the family from 20th - 28th. There’s not just the 35 rides, shows and attractions to enjoy but plenty of free Halloween activities and attractions. Scream and shout with Woody Bear and help him on his travels in Woody’s Spooktacular live show and the Trick or Treat Halloween Parade. Also some old favourites are back including pumpkin carving, trick or treat, mask making and a find the witch treasure hunt.

Frightwater Valley
With spooky happenings and supernatural goings-on taking place across the theme park between 27th - 31st October, make this the ultimate spine-chilling adventure, as well as the opportunity to experience a selection of rides in the dark, you would be a crazy goblin to miss it all. 

Halloween Half Term at Flamingo Land
There will be a whole host of themed tricks and treats for you to enjoy each day. Younger visitors can hop aboard for a spooky indoor train ride at Mischief Mansion or watch as some of the fantastic animals encounter a Halloween pumpkin. Alternatively, slither on over to the Education Centre where you can demonstrate your pumpkin carving skills, meet some truly creepy creatures or pick up a free Halloween Zoo Trail sheet. Prepare yourself for the live Ghost Ship production show for an hour, featuring pirates, magic and nightmares!

Oakwood's Spooktacular
Oakwood is being transformed in to a Scream Park to celebrate Halloween (20th - 21st and 26th - 31st October) with scary family fun for all ages to enjoy. This year Spooky 3D comes alive as the Spooked Alive House of Horrors plus there will be 3 scare mazes: Witch Hunt, Harvest and HideRun.

Fear Island
Fear Island returns to Fantasy Island this Halloween with 3 scare mazes; Psycho Mansion, Carnivhell and Temple of Terror, plus 2 shows; Circus of Screams and Fear Island Phantoms.

Twinlakes Scream Park
Twinlakes Scream Park will offer a whole host of spooky and scary attractions for Halloween in 2018 with the combination of the Family Scream Park by day for young tricksters and the Xtreme Scream Park by night for the brave, with six scare mazes.

Tulleys Shocktober Fest
The UK's number 1 Scream Park returns for 2018 with 9 haunted attractions, live music and food. With live actors, special effects and scary surprises - the phenomenal haunts for 2018 are the Horrorwood Haunted Hayride, The Village: Coven of 13, Twisted Clowns 3DThe Chop ShopThe ColonyThe CellarVIXIThe Creepy Cottage plus The Circus of Horrors. Enjoy two live music stages, award winning street theatre and food, all in a friendly festival atmosphere!

The Haunted Castle
With wondrous witches, Horrible Histories and the return of the spectacular Fire Joust, experience Warwick Castle's biggest ever Halloween event. From 20th October to 4th November The Haunted Castle promises fearful levels of fun for all ages during the day and then, after dark, the fright factor is cranked high as the Castle remains open until 9pm with Séance, Outbreak 1349 and The Castle Dungeon.
