Now in its fourth year, this fantastic event features a lineup of three scare mazes and two live shows.
Fantasy Island is an indoor and outdoor theme park located on the coast near Skegness, with impressive roller coasters The Millennium and The Odyssey.
Upon arrival, it was great to see plenty of coronavirus measures in place including mandatory NHS track and trace, numerous hand sanitiser stations, and face masks required indoors and in the scare mazes.
Circus of Screams
We enjoyed last year's Circus of Screams, with entertaining performances by an enthusiastic cast, but this year's new team have taken it to a totally new level.
The new 45-minute live show is a mixture of family-friendly acts that guests can enjoy several times every day during the event, including aerial acrobatics, stunts, knife throwing, and LOTS of fire!
Tickets are £6 online or £7 on the day.

Ghoul Skool
Located inside the main pyramid, this fun-filled family show is completely free and perfect for those too young for the scare maze attractions. Polly the pesky poltergeist and Wolfie the wily werewolf need your help to become the scariest ghouls in town!
There's also a special Halloween projection mapping show on the Mystical Mountain twice a day.

Scare Mazes
Fantasy Island has once again partnered up with AtmosFEAR! Scare Entertainment for all the scare maze attractions at Fear Island, which guarantees a very high level of quality. These are proper theatrical experiences with original storylines, detailed sets and impressive costumes.
Each of the key scenes convey the story, which are interspersed with dark and narrow maze sections. A variety of effects are used throughout the attractions, including light, sound and smoke. They are designed to provide 'scary fun' so they are not recommended for children under the age of 12.
All three scare mazes are included in a Fear Island wristband (£23 - £30) which includes the rides and attractions at the park, or £5 each on their own.
The Haunting (New for 2020)
Fear has gripped the inhabitants of Gallowgate, after the corpse of local cunning woman Alice Rutterkin was accidently exhumed outside the castle wall. Disturbed from her eternal rest, the spirit of the witch is consumed with vengeance, hell-bent on revenge and bringing a terrifying possession to the castle in The Haunting.
Occupying the space of former scare maze Torchure but with a completely new story, venture into the passages, dungeons and catacombs below the park. The level of terror is maximised by the intensity of the live actors, who take advantage of the extremely low light levels in this attraction. We loved the dramatic finale where we finally encountered the spirit of the witch.

DisturbIAM Lockdown!
Blackwood Peak Sanitorium is under Lockdown following Doctor Marshalls failed experimental attempt to bring the dead back to life. Instead of a modern-day Frankenstein he has become trapped in a zombie nightmare of his own making. Neither dead or alive, the crazed patients have seized control, running riot in the wards and allowing only live food supplies accessed to the building.
Updated for 2020 with a continuation of the previous story where insanity meets science in a disturbing medical nightmare. There are some genuinely disgusting and shocking scenes with a great use of effects. This fantastic attraction delivered the biggest jump scares of the event, with one particular scene giving us a huge fright!

The House of Voodoo CURSED
Voodoo Priestess Delphine La Laurie has invoked an ancient curse across the mist-clad bayou bringing the lands of the living and the dead dangerously close together. A deathly glow now pervades the walkways and rivers inside The House of Voodoo CURSED, will you escape or be lost for eternity in a never-ending nightmare?
Located within Voodoo Bay, discover the secrets of a long-forgotten bayou. Tread carefully as you navigate the misty rivers and walkways of this eerie underworld, but keep your wits about you – who knows what is lurking in the fog! Due to coronavirus measures, this scare maze no longer requires you to where a hood over your head for part of the experience, but the shorter route is still very effective.

The scare maze attractions were limited to one group at a time which actually enhanced the experience, the actors were wearing face shields or masks, and the touch points were being cleaned regularly.
We must confess that we did miss the Psycho Vault, our personal favourite from last year, but understand that if it hadn't been for the coronavirus the lineup would have been quite different this year.
Elsewhere in the park, there are also various Halloween decorations, although a bit less than last year when there were more themed areas.
Our visit to Fantasy Island also provided the opportunity to enjoy all the park's many rides and attractions, including the new 70 metre tall Starflyer which offers panoramic views of the area and the incredibly fun Ice Mountain indoor spinning roller coaster. We had such a brilliant day!
